T-Shirt Quilts

Shirley commissioned me to make two "approximately" twin size t-shirt quilts from her late husband's shirts. They are actually smaller than a twin (you need about 20 per quilt for that size), but we worked with what we had. The quilts were gifts for her grandsons.

Want me to do one for you? The cost is about $300.00 for a twin size (including machine quilting) plus materials (which you can provide or you can reimburse me). Total cost for each of the above was about $350.00, but Shirley provided the fabric for the sashing and the backing. Your preparation includes providing me with 20+ t-shirts (I'll cut them to size). They should be washed and inspected for tears and stains.

Figure about $18.00 per t-shirt plus materials.

Done your own (don't need me to make one for you)? They quilt up very nicely. My suggestion is to use a lightweight iron-on stabilizer behind each shirt -- this will keep the quilt from stretching too much.
